”Imaginings too easily become memories, memories imaginings.”
Can memories be trusted? Our recollection is extremely uncertain. It’s pretty arbitrary which things stick to our thoughts from an event and which are forgotten. On the other hand, memories can be intertwined and we may even create false ones, while some things are engraved in our minds with intricate detail.
In the exhibition memories, imaginings, memories are given a physical form of misty blue. Some of them are concrete memories and moments being fumbled for in order to immortalise them, some are reflections on the nature of memories and the passage of time.
Like images, memories wear out. Time and new memories erode and modify them. One memory may come in several different versions. Which one is the right one? Perhaps none?
The artwork has been inspired and aided by quotations from various eras that delve into memory and memories.
