Iholta/iholle is an exhibition created around the theme of touch together with Matleena Korhonen.
The work in this exhibition have been created during 2020 and 2021 and are in many ways a projection of this bizarre time of isolation and distance between people.
Using cyanotype as a medium enables one to study touch in a very concrete manner. Textile or paper can be sensitised with light sensitive cyanotype liquid and exposed in sun light or under a UV lamp. The shape of a hug will be printed on a shirt and movements of yoga practise will leave their mark on the mat permanently. With such, often playful, experiments Kaasinen creates visual memories of touch. The way the marks are born is just as unpredictable as the affect of touch to our psyche or even self-image can be. Touch has the ability to empower, or at worst to traumatise.
The exhibition took place in Galleria Alkuvoima in Turku in 2021 and in Runonkulman Galleria in Uusikaupunki in 2022.
